Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called on Iranian authorities to immediately arrest those involved in the killing of eight Pakistani nationals near the Pak -Iran border in Sistan, and emphasizing the need for the criminals.
Geo News reported on Saturday night, saying that at least eight Pakistani nationals, who worked as a car mechanics in Iran’s resistance and Balochistan province, were shot dead by gunmen. According to Iranian media, the shooting took place in a workshop in Mehrtan district near the Afghan border.
Six of the victims belonged to the rural areas of Bahawalpur, Kharqa Sharif, while the remaining two belonged to Tehsil Ahmedpur Sharqia.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, Prime Minister Shahbaz termed it a disgusting act of terrorism and demanded that Iranian authorities disclose the motivations behind the attack.
The Prime Minister said, “Terrorism is a major threat to the entire region,” the Prime Minister said, emphasizing the need for integrated strategies in neighboring countries to eliminate this threat.
He also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to immediately contact the families of the victims and extend every possible assistance. He also directed the Pakistani Embassy in Iran to take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of the deceased.
Meanwhile, families who mourn the damage have appealed to the government to help the deceased’s bodies immediately return.
One of the victims, Aamir, had been working in Iran for a year. His father said that Aamir had planned to return home for Eid -ul -Fitr but was unable to close the border.
Amir’s father said, “We were told that there was a terrorist attack in the garage where he worked.” “We appeal to the government to help us bring the bodies of their loved ones.”
Naeem, one of the victims, told Geo News that the local administration in Bahawalpur has not yet reached the bereaved families until Saturday night.
Pakistan sought full support for Iran in investigating casualties
Reacting to the tragic incident, Foreign Ministry spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan said he strongly condemned the inhuman and cowardly killing of its citizens in Iran.
In a statement, the spokesperson said: “We hope the full support of the Iranian party in the investigation of the matter and the timely return of the remains of the victims.”
He maintained that his mission had already requested consular access to confirm his identity.
The spokesman said, “Pakistan’s leadership and people are deeply saddened and upset over the tragic incident,” the spokesman added that the Prime Minister expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families.
“At the behest of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Iranian authorities have permanent contacts for a comprehensive investigation into our embassy in Tehran and our consulate in Zahidan to ensure that the culprits have recovered the victims of justice, as well as the victims of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mohammad Madassir Tipu, said in a statement that the incident was described as a “abusive act of violence”.
He said that Pakistani authorities were in contact with their Iranian counterparts to investigate a speedy investigation and bring the culprits to justice.
He added, “Iran has assured its utmost support.
Bodies return home
In addition, Iranian authorities have been contacted about the repatriation of the bodies of those killed in Balochistan, the District Administration said.
He added that he is in contact with the Pakistani consulate in Tehran, and that it may take two to three days to return the bodies.
Meanwhile, the Iranian embassy in Islamabad issued a statement regarding the killing of Pakistani mechanics: “We strongly condemn the armed attack on eight Pakistani nationals in the Iranian province of Sanson.”
The embassy declared the incident inhuman and cowardly, calling it completely unacceptable.
“There is a constant and common threat to the entire region of terrorism,” he added.
The mission further emphasized that all countries should join united efforts to eradicate terrorism and extremism.
“This trend has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people over the past decades,” the statement said.
The embassy ended with the urgent need for collective and coordinated efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The unfortunate incident came to an end in efforts to improve the bilateral relations of neighboring countries when a brief but aggressive incident of cross -border tensions, which was born after Iran’s amazing attack, was targeted by Iran’s amazing attack in the militant organization inside Pakistan.
The region, near the Iran -Pakistan border, has seen a number of similar incidents in recent years, including firing, smuggling and border conflicts due to its strategic location.
Pakistani laborers usually work in repair and agriculture in the Iranian border area. However, recent casualties indicate increasing insecurity for foreign workers in the eastern parts of the country.
In January last year, at least nine Pakistanis were killed and three were injured in a shooting near Pakistan’s border in the southeastern region of Iran, Islamabad and Tehran formally resumed diplomatic relations after a brief tension.
