Pakistan Tahrik Justice (PTI) on Monday separated itself from a bilateral bill introduced in the US House of Representatives seeking sanctions against Pakistani state officials.
Reacting to the bilateral bill, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan told reporters at Parliament House that his party had nothing to do with legislation in the US Congress.
His comment came last month after two US lawmakers in the House of Representatives demanded sanctions on former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “persecution”, titled ‘Pakistan Democracy Act’ on alleged human rights violations against Pakistani state officials.
The bill aims to request a US Global Magnets Human Rights Accountability Act, which allows the United States to refuse visas and admission to those accused of human rights abuses.
Talking to reporters in the Parliament House, Gohar said that countless legislation and resolutions were passed in the US Congress, however, the former ruling party has nothing to do with the bill.
He also made it clear that his party was not in touch with the US delegation arriving in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was viewed as an anti -Pakistan bill presented in the US House of Representatives and hoped that the United States would continue its role in strengthening Pak -US relations.
“We are aware of the introduction of this bill in the House of Representatives. This is a single person’s initiative. We believe that the current bilateral relationships of mutual respect, understanding and non -interference in each other’s affairs in the time and context of the bill do not agree with the current positive dynamics.”
He added that Pakistan is committed to constitutionalism, rule of law, protection of human rights and freedom of expression as it considers democracy as a nation for prosperity and development as a nation.
Regarding a question about the PTI Establishment Contacts, Gohar gave an ambiguous response, saying that he was so aware of development like the media.
Some reporters questioned Gohar about PTI’s next political move. For this, Gohar said that the PTI will finalize its future strategy after forming an alliance with opposition parties.
He explained in detail that Maulana Fazllar Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Fazal (Joy F), will announce his decision on April 15 after consulting his party’s executive committee. The joint opposition will decide on the terms of the anti -government movement.
It is worth mentioning here that the party -based party, after the Eid -ul -Fit, intensified efforts to form a great opposition to the launch of the anti -government movement.
Following Khan’s direction, PTI leaders approached every political party to form a great opposition alliance and launch an anti -government movement.
In April 2024, the PTI formed the Tahrik-Tahfoz-A-I-Eye-Pakistan (TTAP), which is a coalition of Sunni Attaad Council (SIC), Pashtuno Milli Ommy Party (PKMAP), PKMAP), Pikamat-Mi-Mangal (PK Map). Majlis Wahidat-Maslamin (MWM).
However, after the end of the talks between the government and the opposition in January, the PTI last month emphasized on establishing a joint front against the ruling coalition to be part of its movement in former premiere Shahid Khazan Abbasi.
Commenting on internal rifles led by PTI, Gohar said in today’s media talk that they are all part of a Democratic Party that does not prevent anyone from expressing their opinion.
However, he advised PTI leaders to discuss party issues within the party.
