Lahore: Pakistan is ready to host the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 qualifiers, the tournament will begin on April 9.
Six teams will fight for the remaining two places in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will be in India later this year. The qualifiers will join Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and India, who have already saved their places. Australia will defend their honor by winning the previous tournament in 2022.
The six teams participating in the qualifier are Pakistan (host), West Indies (2013 runner -up), Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland and Thailand.
Pakistan, Bangladesh, the West Indies, and Ireland won the 2022-2025 ICC Women’s Championship as the lower four teams, which means they have to go through the qualifier to get a place in the central program. Scotland and Thailand qualified on the basis of their ranking in the ICC Women’s ODI team.
The matches will be played in two important places in Lahore. Gaddafi Stadium (GSL), one of Pakistan’s most famous cricket places, hosted several matches in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, including the semi -finals.
Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground: This will be the first time that LCCA Ground will host an international women’s cricket match.
The tournament will follow a round Robin Format, where each team will play once every other team. The victory will get two points. After all 15 matches are completed, the top two teams at the points table will qualify for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
The purpose of Thailand will be to qualify for its first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, while Bangladesh tried its second hearing after debuting in 2022.
With strong teams competition and involvement at the high stake, the tournament promises to be an interesting war for competence. Cricket fans around the world will be watching closely when teams will fight for the opportunity to play in India later this year.
