PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday finalized the provincial action plan to eliminate terrorism and improve law and order in the province.
An official handout said that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpur chaired a meeting in which the project was finalized. Chief Minister’s Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners and regional police officers attended the meeting. The Communican said that the Action Plan was formed around seven major pillars, including counter -terrorism measures, political and social measures, legal reforms, good governance, general administrative measures, surveillance and public awareness campaigns. It outlined 84 specific measures in 18 themes, in which the responsibilities were assigned to the concerned provincial departments and federal agencies with the scheduled timelines. The key features of the Action Plan include strengthening the state’s authority, restoring public confidence in the system through visible action against terrorists, continuation of dynamic acts against terrorists, strict implementation of anti -terrorism laws, improving public services and involvement in security and developmental issues.
Under the action plan, a comprehensive database of terrorists and their facilitators will be set up, regular updates for Schedule IV and strict monitoring of those on the list and monthly reviews of grace issues on the desired terrorists will be conducted. Strict discipline action will be taken against providing terrorist facilities against government employees.
The civil administration will play a central role in counter -terrorism efforts.
