A source said that the US envoy Steve Vitcut arrived in Moscow on Thursday to propose a Washington plan for a 30 -day ceasefire in Ukraine, one source said, because the Kremlin has warned against any “hasty” agreement that will allow Kiev to fight.
During a talks with US officials in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Ukraine agreed to the plan, when US President Donald Trump called for more than three years of conflict.
But before meeting with Watticov, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assistant said that the document only kept Ukrainian position, and Russia also needed input.
“Working on it, thinking, and keeping your status in mind,” Yuri Ishkov told Russian state TV.
Russia has been moving on the battlefield for more than a year, and has claimed to run Ukraine forces from the town of Sidza in Russia on Thursday.
Despite the benefit of Moscow’s battlefield, Trump has expressed hope that his team can protect the ceasefire.
“If we can stop Russia, we have a complete ceasefire,” Trump told reporters on Wednesday. And I think it will never return to the war. “
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zelinsky said the fact is that Russia has not yet officially responded to the idea that shows that he does not want peace.
“Sadly, for more than a day before, the world is not yet heard any meaningful response to Russia’s suggestions,” he said on social media.
“This once again shows that Russia tries to prolong the war and postpone peace as far as possible.”
‘Temporary breath’
Determining its red lines before the talks, Russia rejected foreign peace troops in Ukraine and increased the possibility of getting rid of sanctions imposed.
Ishkov said Moscow wants any settlement long -term and secure its interests, instead of a temporary agreement, which will “breathe” to Ukraine.
“That’s why we are trying. A peaceful settlement that takes into account the legitimate interests of our country,” he told a state TV reporter.
Ishakov has called the 30 -day ceasefire proposal a “hasty” plan that is “not in favor of a long -term settlement”.
“This will be nothing but a temporary breath for the Ukrainian army,” he said after a call with US National Security Advisor Mike Walts.
Russia has also refused to accept foreign peace soldiers in Ukraine as part of a ceasefire or long -term security guarantee for Kiev.
It may ask that Ukraine has created European allies to deploy military “troops” in its territory, and once the conflict ends with the conflict to protect Russia from future attacks.
“It is unacceptable to us that other state military units are deployed in Ukraine under any flag,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova said in a briefing.
“It is a foreign troops and a military base … all of which will mean the involvement of these countries in a direct armed conflict with our country.”
The war for the car
Meanwhile, Russia has claimed rapid progress in the region-where Kiev attacked across the border last August and has been its territory since then.
The Russian Defense Ministry said it had “liberated” Sidza, along with two other settlements in the border region.
Prior to the fighting, the house of about 5,000 5,000 people, Sidzha, Kiev was the largest settlement after launching his trauma attack in Russia.
The area was one of the Kiev’s bargaining chips to replace the land with Russia, who occupied fifth of Ukraine since taking Crimea in 2014, and in February 2022, it attacked its full scale.
According to military bloggers, Ukraine is now in danger of losing its grip on the border region, supporting dozens of square kilometers (miles) in the last seven days.
The Ukrainian commander -in -chief indicated late on Wednesday that some of his troops were withdrawing in the region.
Putin visited the region for the first time on Wednesday when Ukraine launched its attack.
Dressed in the fatigue of the war, he hoped that his army would “completely liberate” the Kiev -power areas.
Moscow’s rapid progress in the region came after the United States stopped intelligence sharing and security support for Ukraine, though analysts and officials have warned against direct link.
Washington said it has resumed its support for Kiev before talks with Moscow.
Moscow and Kiev both maintained enmity on Thursday.
Its Ministry of Defense said that Russia dropped 77 Ukrainian drones overnight, while the Ukrainian air force said it had dropped dozens of drones that were fired on several regions.
