WASHINGTON: In President Donald Trump’s power, the United States Department of Education said on Tuesday that it was reducing the number of its staff to almost HALF half, the opening game in a plan to eliminate the department, which has long hated right -wing Republicans.
The move is the latest to roam the US federal government in these six weeks, since the president returned to the White House when he promises to slim on his words, it is an unconscious and poor bureaucracy, in which thousands of employees across the country have already been fired.
Education Secretary Linda McMemon told Fox News that he had decided to cut his staff just five days after starting work – it was a step towards the completion of Trump’s order last month, “he removed himself from his job.”
Former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, McMemon, said, “I have to shut down his instruction, clearly, the Department of Education, which we know that we will have to work with the Congress, you know that it is to be done.”
“But what we did today was to take the first step to eliminate the bureaucratic blot.”
Agency employees, who manage students’ loans, oversee the achievements of the learners and enforce civil rights, closed their offices on Tuesday.
“As part of the last mission of the Department of Education, the department today began to decrease the force that influenced about 50 % of the department’s workforce,” a statement said.
Administrative addresses
When Trump took office, there were 4,100 employees near the department.
Under the government to reduce the head count, under the supervision of billionaire businessman Elon Musk, about 600 600 agreed to resign or retire in the past few weeks.
A statement said that another 1,300 will be kept on administrative leave on March 21, though their payment will continue till June, a statement said that no area will be deducted from deduction.
“All divisions within the department have an impact on a decline, with some divisions needing important reorganization to better serve students, parents, teachers and taxpayers,” a statement said.
However, he said, legal programs will continue to be interrupted, such as funding for students with loans, pale grants and students with special needs.
Trump promised to educate education when he campaigned to return to the White House, saying he would change the powers of the department to the state governments.
Traditionally, the federal government has played a limited role in education, in which only 13 % of funds for primary and secondary schools come from federal couples, with the rest of the states and local communities.
But federal funding for students with low -income schools and special needs is invaluable. And the federal government has been essential for students to implement the key civil rights reservations.
Through the law, the Department of Education, which was formed in 1979, cannot be closed without the approval of the Congress.
But the Democrats and the opponents of the project saw it damaging and firing the staff to neutralize it without the need to get approval from the House and the Senate.
Former Chair of the Senate health, education, labor and pension committee, Democratic Senator Petty Murray accused Trump of demolishing the agency.
“Family students want to help students get mathematics and reading scores and ensure their children can develop.
Instead, Donald Trump is taking a catastrophic ball to the Department of Education and returning to his students and teachers with resources and help, and with the help of them, so that Republicans can pay maximum tax deductions for billionaires.
“Low teachers, low accountability, less resources for students, and more chaos – this is the last thing that students and schools need, but this is what Trump is providing.”
