LAHORE/KARACHI: As soon as the holy month of Ramadan begins today (Saturday), there will be rain in different parts of Sindh and Punjab, which will face thunderstorms with thunderstorms, tomorrow (March 2) is expected to snow in the mountainous areas.
Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning of snowfall, rain, thunderstorms and in several districts. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Office has predicted a Western weather system that moves to the western parts of the country, which causes widespread rainfall in high areas.
As a result, some areas of Sindh may receive thunderstorms between the night of March 2 and the morning of March. 3. Light rains or drizzle are expected in the areas of Shahid Dudkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, Score, Ghotki and surrounding areas.
It is expected that the weather, including Karachi, is expected to remain cloudy in most parts of Sindh during this period. However, Karachi will see today’s March 3 with strong winds today and tomorrow. According to the Met Office, the day -time temperature in Karachi is predicted to remain between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, a PDMA spokesperson said that from March 2 to March 4, Marri and Galat are expected to receive rain and heavy snowfall, which can create road closures and lubrication conditions.
Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahadin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushi, Gujarat, Sialkot, Narwal, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Jhang, and To Buba, 3.
Meanwhile, Multan, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakapton, Leh, and Okara may also experience rain during this period.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain on high alert. In response to the predicted weather, instructions have been issued to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Rescue 1122, Punjab Livestock Department, and other relevant agencies to take necessary steps.
Authorities have warned that the hurricanes may occur in some parts of upper Punjab, and passengers going to the mountainous areas are advised to be cautious. Farmers have also been urged to adjust their activities accordingly.
To ensure public safety, PDMA issued the following instructions:
- Ensure effective harmony and reaction in DeoCs 24 hours of enough staff.
- Gather and share the latest information with PDMA, line departments, and national authorities.
- Prepare the situation (SITREP) to cover any major events/progress with the PDMA immediately.
- Rescue 1122 (Disaster Response Force) There are plenty of emergency response personnel and equipment during the high alert and forecast period.
- Establish a smooth and efficient communication system through phone calls, SMS and announcements to ensure timely spread of weather forecasts, suggestions and alerts to the local community through a general announcement in Patwari, Lumbarders, and mosques.
- Local traffic authorities actively implement strong traffic control measures in snow -affected areas.
- In order to ensure full operationable, inspection and testing the ice plows, loaders, salt -spreading, and other ice cleansing machinery from time to time.
- Advise residents, travelers and tourists to store emergency kits containing essential goods such as hot clothing, medicines, food, electric banks and flashlights.
Authorities have urged the public to remain updated by government weather advice to ensure safe and smooth observation of Ramadan during changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions.
