In the backdrop, a recent meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, Pakistan Tehreek-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-ASAF (PTI) parliamentary leader said on Thursday. It was that the courts should stay away from politics. .
One day ago, Premier visited the CJP Afridi’s residence, at his invitation, to distribute the agenda of the next meeting of the National Judicial Policy -making Committee (NJPMC).
Last week, the Chief Justice invited Prime Minister Shahbaz and opposition leader Omar Ayub Khan to suggest improvement in the justice system, which will be held at the next NJPMC meeting.
Addressing the Geo News Program “Capital Talk”, PTI’s lawyer said such meetings should be “once” and should not be a routine practice.
“CJP should not normalize such meetings [practice] As it gives the impression of politics.
“It is true that the Chief Justice has called the opposition for the meeting and I am part of the delegation. I am going to Islamabad to meet her [chief justice] At his residence yesterday, “he added.
Barrister Zafar said that the agenda of the 10 to 12 -point meeting with the CJP includes the discussion of law, judicial system, trade cases and digitalization of the judicial system.
“This is unusual because I have never seen before, that the Chief Justice meets the government and the opposition delegation.”
It seems that such meetings may be an attempt to bring the government and the opposition to the same page, the PTI leader added: “Even so, such meetings should not be implemented as usual. It would be better to improve the practice of politics as a meeting with the opposition and the government.
In response to a question about the upcoming PTI’s power show, Barrister Zafar confirmed that there would be no clash between his public rally and the ongoing ICC event.
The PTI leader claimed, “PTI is not allowed to hold meetings in Punjab.
Talking about “political hunting”, he said the incoming government was using the plans that were not used during the dictatorship periods.
The PTI lawyer reiterated that “PTI will protest after Eid al -Fitr.”
He further claimed, “If the pending cases are resumed, the government will end.”
During the February 19 meeting, the CJP assured the opposition parties to take input on judicial reforms during a meeting with the Prime Minister, reading a statement issued by the Apex Court.
The Prime Minister was also accompanied by Prime Minister Azir Nazir Tarar, Prime Minister of Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema and Mansoor Usman Awan of the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP). SC Registrar Mohammad Saleem Khan and Secretary Law and Justice Commission Tanzila Sabahit were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Justice shared the agenda of the next meeting of the NJPMC and demanded the government input.

The CJP informed Prime Minister Shahbaz that he was also taking input of the opposition parties and wished that his reform program should get bilateral cooperation so that “reforms are permanent, sustainable and more effective”.
The Prime Minister praised the reform package and agreed that the government would soon provide its input.
In addition, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that Prime Minister Shahbaz praised the Chief Justice’s move to visit remote areas of South Punjab, Interior Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. And consulted with all stakeholders for effective and timely delivery of justice.
Informing the Chief Justice of the long -standing tax dispute in various courts, he requested the senior judge to ensure timely decisions on these matters on the basis of merit. The premiere also assured the senior judge to accelerate effective measures regarding the missing persons.
