Rome: Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital on Friday to test and treat bronchitis, which increased the recent health problems facing the Catholic Church chief.
Vatican said that Francis, who has breathed in recent times and assigned officials to read his speeches, held his morning meetings before going to Jameli Hospital in Rome.
It was said that he was hospitalized for “some essential diagnostic tests and to continue the treatment of bronchitis in the hospital setting”.
Two audiences near the pope were later canceled on Saturday and Monday, while a cardinal will lead Mass to Sunday at Sunday.
“Early tests indicate respiratory tract infections,” Vatican said in a further statement on Friday evening, adding that his condition is “stable with mild fever”.
“The Pope is calm, he is in good emotions and is reading newspapers,” Vatican spokesman Matu Brunei told reporters shortly afterwards. “
Argentina Pontuff, who took over as the head of the Catholic Church in 2013, will be living in a Sweet in Gameli, especially used by the Pope, which has its own chapel.
On the entrance of the hospital, Pope John Paul II’s statue, a good desire from Pope Francis, left the candle.
Italian media reports that Pontuff was admitted to the hospital after weeks of illness and said he could stay in the hospital for several days.
The Pope, who removed one of his lungs as a young man, has repeatedly told the assistants in recent days to read his speeches out loud.
In his weekly audience on Wednesday, Francis said he could not read his speeches “yet”, and added with a smile: “I hope I can do the next time.”
He also held meetings at home last week to help his recovery.
On Friday morning, the Vatican confirmed that he had the audience with five visitors, including the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico.
Eliminating health problems
In recent years, Pontuff has been suffering from health problems, though he is maintaining a very busy schedule.
He left the Good Friday event last year and called the Vatican “Light Flow” but led the Easter services according to the plan.
A year ago, in March 2023, Francis was admitted to the hospital for three nights with bronchitis, which was fine with antibiotics.
Another bronchitis competition led to a visit to Dubai on December 2023 to attend the UN COP28 Climate Change Conference.
In June 2023, the Pope also conducted hernia operation and in 2021 a type of dyrioticulitis surgery, which is an inflammation of the pockets that is produced in the intestinal layer.
He has been using a wheelchair since 2022 and uses a stick during the rare moments of standing due to permanent pain of knees.
Francis fell twice in the past few months and snatched his arm in January and plays a huge injury on his right jaw in December, causing him to fall off his bed.
Yet, despite his health problems, Francis is rarely stuck.
In September 2024, it completed the four countries Asia Pacific Tour, which is the longest time for its Papisi in terms of duration and distance.
He never takes holidays and has a busy schedule, sometimes with dozens of meetings in one morning.
Her health issues regularly give rise to speculation on her future, especially when her predecessor Bendite XVI left the health of failure in 2013.
Although Francis has left the option to resign, if he is unable to perform his duties, he has said that he is not going anywhere.
In a memoir published last year, the Pope wrote that he had “not so seriously because he would think about resigning me.”
He wrote that the resignation is a “remote possibility” that would only be justified in the form of a “serious physical obstacle”.
