On Saturday, Pakistan Tehreek Justice (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Ali Khan reiterated that his party’s mandate was “stolen” during the general election 2024.
The chairman of the PTI gave remarks while addressing a party’s power show in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sobi. The former ruling party is witnessing a “balcony day” today against alleged rigging in the general election last year. The PTI has claimed that his mandate was stolen during the elections the same day last year, while the ruling coalition denies the allegations.
On the first anniversary of last year’s controversial elections, Imran Khan’s founding party has arrested several PTI leaders and workers in Multan, Muzaffarabad and other cities.
Addressing the Sobi rally, Barrister Gohar reiterated his party’s claim: “We had won elections in Punjab. Our mandate was stolen in the dark of night. [during the polls].
Stressing the need to tackle the economic challenges facing the country, Barrister Gohar said that Pakistan’s economic stability is linked to political stability.
Speaking on the occasion, the PTI chairman emphasized the need for the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law. He said: “If the judiciary is free, there will be political stability.”
Moving towards the talks between the PTI and the ruling coalition, he said that the former ruling party had joined the negotiations in light of the direction of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“Imran Khan directed to start talks for the sake of the country,” he added.
The PTI refused the dialogue process last month as the government had set up a judicial commission to investigate the incidents of May 9, 2023 and setting up a judicial commission for crackdown against its workers in Islamabad on November 26, 2024. I did not accept their important demands.
On his behalf, Ali Amin Gandpur, the Chief Minister of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Fire Brand, warned that if his party decided to take revenge, the ruling coalition would “not tolerate it”. He said that if hatred increases, Pakistan will suffer.
Addressing the rally, CM Gandapur said that his party wants the rule of law and the rule of the constitution in the country.
PTI Chapter President Junaid Akbar revealed that the founder of the PTI will soon make another call for protest. He said that PTI workers conveyed a message through a mass gathering that they were not fed up with the protest.
Talking about the next PTI protest, he said: “We will go to the streets with preparations to face bullets.”
However, he made it clear that he did not want to confront the institutions.
American Rally
In addition to the Sobi rally, PTI workers also took him to the streets in the United States, the participants shouted slogans in favor of the party’s founder, while they expressed regret over their “illegal” imprisonment, which they claimed. Addressing a rally in Dallas, Waqar Khan said that PTI had won a clear majority in Pakistan’s 2024 general elections. “However, people’s mandate was stolen from PTI, as saw with the results of Form 45.”
Meanwhile, Hassan Siddiqui and Noshin Mughal emphasized that “real democracy is the only way to move forward for Pakistan, and imposing a defeated government on the people is not in the interest of anyone”.
Participants stressed that the people of Pakistan are united in their struggle for real democracy and fundamental rights, and they will not allow their voice to be silenced in any case.
