WASHINGTON: An American airline’s regional passenger jet was reported to have killed more than 60 people after a US airline’s Black Hawk helicopter collided on Wednesday, and the Reagan was hit by the Freud Potomic River near the Washington National Airport.
“At this point, we do not believe that someone was a survivor,” said Colombian fire chief John Donley at a press conference on Thursday.
So far, 28 bodies have been recovered from the river, Donley said, in which the US airstrikes had been devastating for more than a decade. “We will work to find all the bodies and re -connect them with our loved ones,” he said.
US Airlines confirmed that 60 passengers and four staff members were on the jet. The helicopter, on a training flight, was carrying three soldiers, an American official said.
Flight passengers included ice skirts, family and coaches, which were returning from the events in Waketa, Kansas, including former Russian -born world champions Yijinia Shashkova and Wadim Namov.
Emergency respondents worked to CBS News at night that a Dumbi team had recovered a so -called black box from the plane’s two data recorder.
The midir collided with a passenger flying from the wicket to Jet Reagan. Radio communications between the air traffic control tower and the Black Hawk shows that the helicopter crew knew that the plane was in the vicinity.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said both helicopters and aircraft are flying standard flight samples, and there has been no malfunction in communication.
He said, “Everything was standard in the edge of the accident.” Do I think it was worth preventing? Exactly. “
In the US capital, three commercial airports and several major military facilities are often crowded at the airplane, and officials have raised concerns about a busy runway in the Reagan National crossing the river from Washington.
The Pentagon said it was launching an investigation.
In a post on the truth social, President Donald Trump questioned the actions of helicopter staff and air traffic controllers, which he described as a clear night.
He wrote, “This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been stopped. Not good !!!”
The American Eagle Flight 5342 was run by PSA Airlines, a regional subsidiary in Ohio, US Airlines. The airline said the aircraft was CRJ-700, from a line of regional jets manufactured by a Canadian bomber, later sold to Dostbishi. Robert Iceum of American Airlines said the pilot had almost six years of Six Six’s experience.
He said that the company is cooperating with the National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the accidents.
The air traffic control recording appears to be occupying the final attempt with the helicopter before the CRJ Jet collided with the Call Sign PAT25.
“Pat25, do you have a CRJ in sight? Pat25, passing behind CRJ,” says an air traffic controller on Wednesday at 8:47 pm (0147 GMT), according to a recording on liveatc.net.
After seconds, another plane emphasized the air traffic control, “Tower, did you see it?” – Apparently referring to the accident. Then a air traffic controller redirects the aircraft to the runway 33 to move around.
The collision and an explosion in the accident webcam video brought the sky overnight.
“I just saw a fireball and was just over. I had not seen anything since hitting the river,” an air traffic controller was heard about the radio.
John Potter, head of the Regional Airport Authority, said the flights will resume at 11am (1600 GMT) in Reagan National.
Rescue efforts
The governing body was returning from a camp on the board after a program in the Waketa, said the governing body was returning from a camp.
He said, “We have been destroyed by this undeniable tragedy and keep the families of the victims close to our hearts.”
Russian media said that Shashkova and Namov, who were married and were working as coach, were returning from a Waketa with a group of young skisters. Russia’s mesh news outlet published a list of 13 skisters, many of them migrating to the United States, who are believed to be on the plane.
The Kremlin offered condolences to the families of the killed Russians, saying that there was no plans for contacts between President Vladimir Putin and Trump.
Washington’s DC Fire Chief Donley said the situation was cold and sharp, which has made the operation “extremely rough” for 300 respondents at the scene.
“At these sharp temperatures of water, the basic temperature of the human body drops rapidly, fatigue or anesthesia can decrease for 15 to 30 minutes,” said Dan Dodoin.
In 1982, Air Florida’s flight collided with the 14th Street Bridge of the 90 River Potomak, killing 70 passengers and four crew members. Only four passengers and one staff members survived.
The last fatal major crash containing a commercial aircraft in the United States took place in 2009, when all 49 people aboard the Colgan Air Flight died when a plane crashed in the state of New York. A man was also killed on the ground.
