PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Sunday decided to take “indiscriminate action against miscreants trying to sabotage the peace accord”, calling the action “inevitable” after attacks on aid convoys and deputy commissioners.

“Action against such miscreants in the affected areas has become imperative,” he said, vowing to ensure the implementation of the peace accord between the two warring tribes in accordance with the law.
Kurram has been plagued by violence for decades, but nearly 150 people have been killed in a fresh round of fighting that began in November last year when two separate convoys traveling under police escort were ambushed. , in which 40 people were killed.
Despite the peace agreement reached on January 1, there have been several attacks on convoys and vehicles in and around Baghan, including a targeted attack on Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud.
Last week, terrorists ambushed a convoy of 35 vehicles set to deliver rice, flour, cooking oil and essential medicines to local traders, killing security personnel, drivers and civilians. At least 8 people lost their lives. As a result of retaliatory action by the security forces, six attackers were killed.

Apart from this, JUI(F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has opposed the KP government’s plan to launch an operation in Karam and said that such measures cannot solve the problems. He added that it would be futile to seek solutions to problems through force.
